Rare Black Raven ZZ Plant - Zamioculcas zamiifolia - 4" Pot - Collector's - World's Easiest House Plant

Strange but beautiful. A caudex-forming aroid native to Kenya has 3in, almost black leaves arranged distichously along bottle-shaped stems, giving a cycad-like appearance. Easy to grow, good as a houseplant, bonsai, for shaded landscapes or terrariums. An ancient relic, along with Gonatopus, with a unique characteristic (for Aroids) in that the leaflet can fall to the ground, root and form bulblets. This feature is not known in aroids outside of the Zamioculcadeae. As surprising as it may seem, Zamioculcas zamiifolia is the perfect plant for an office setting. Who would have thought that the ZZ plant originating over 42 million years ago would do so well in modern office life? The leaves of this plant are a combination of succulent stems and thick, leathery leaves. They shoot out from the base directly without any trunk, something quite unconventional and found very attractive by designers and indoor architects. Many condominiums and hotels feature this plant in their lobby and pre-furbished suites since it appeals to the modern-day take on simplicity and elegance. The newest variety to be brought to market is the astounding black-leaved Zamioculcas ‘Raven’, which can fit in to more indoor environments than ever before with its shining, color-neutral black leaves.
